Actress Jennifer Lawrence has officially announced that she intends to take a year off from acting in order to “fix our democracy.”
Lawrence, famous for her role in the Hunger Games series, announced last week that her year off will be spent trying to engage young people with local politics.
“I’m going to take the next year off. I’m going to be working with this organization that I’m a part of: Represent.Us. It’s just trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state-by-state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy. And then I don’t know what I’m doing next.”
Lawrence claims this is a non-partisan move but she has historically been very critical of President Trump ever since he was elected in 2016.
Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee took to Twitter to reply to Lawrence’s announcement in an epic takedown.
“She’s a very talented young lady for sure, but I had no idea she was THIS good! And yep, a year ought to do it. After 242 yrs trying, good she’s here now to get it right! Thanks, Hollywood!”

It’s laughable that Lawrence thinks she will be able to “fix our democracy” with her limited political experience and in such a short time.
