The late Reverend Billy Graham was honored today by an outpouring of support at his funeral at the U.S. Capitol.
It is no small feat to have such an impact on the world that your funeral is held in the Rotunda in the Capitol. Graham is only the 4th private citizen to receive this official recognition. The last to receive it before him was Rosa Parks.
A great number of legislators and supporters spoke, including Sen. Mitch McConnell, Rep. Paul Ryan, and President Trump.
When President Trump stepped up to the podium, he recounted the profound effect Graham had on his life starting from childhood, when his father would take him to see him.

“I remember that, because my father said to me “come on, son … let’s go see Billy Graham at Yankee Stadium.” And it was something very special. Americans came in droves to hear that great young preacher.”
He praised Graham with the highest regards and gave a moving speech about all of those who benefited from Graham’s love and generosity:
“He took his message to the poorest places, to the downtrodden and to the brokenhearted, to inmates in prison, and to the overlooked and the neglected. Everywhere he went, Reverend Graham delivered the same beautiful message: God loves you. That was his message: God loves you.”
After Trump spoke, he and Melania opted to lay a large, beautiful wreath on the casket in remembrance of a great man.

Then, just as President Trump was walking out of the service, he was overcome with emotion and paused to put his hand on the casket of Rev. Graham, in a lasting tribute to the legacy of someone who will never be forgotten.
